It’s Dr. Martin Luther King’s Birthday!

Arts & Culture, Educational, Family Friendly, Free, Kids, Music & Theater

In 1964, Dr. Martin Luther King’s opening address at the Berlin Jazz Festival was, “(Jazz music) take(s) the hardest realities of life and put(s) them into music, only to come out with some new hope or sense of triumph. This is triumphant music.” We’ll have a story, and our activity will be to sing along, clap or keep the beat with youth percussion instruments to songs and music, such as Lift Every Voice and Sing. Pontiac’s own Singer-Songwriter Melanie Rutherford will join us in this memorable event!
