Ferndale, MI

Ferndale is located in Oakland County, Michigan U.S. between Woodward Avenue and 9 Mile Road. The city started as a bedroom community for Detroit workers and later became a suburban community. Ferndale has a population of over 20,000 people and is mainly residential. The downtown area thrives thanks to its pedestrian and bike-friendly streets that connect stores, dance clubs, bars, and local restaurants. In 2010, the city won the Great American Main Street Award. Ferndale is best known for its progressive policies and LGBT community. The city hosts events during the year including DIY Street Fair & Funky Ferndale Art Fair, Fido Does Ferndale, and a blues festival. Top attractions in this city are the Detroit Zoo, Martin Road Park, and the Ferndale Historical Museum.
