Detroit is the most populous city in Michigan and is the largest city located on the United States-Canada border. It is the only city in the U.S. where people can look South to see Canada. Detroit is the second largest city in the Midwest and has a metropolitan population of over 4.3 million. It is home to the first concrete highway and the first four-way three-color traffic light. Detroit’s nicknames include: “Motor City”, “Motown”, “The D”, “Rock City”, and “The 313”. Detroit is the birthplace of Motown Records and Ginger Ale. Some points of interest are Belle Isle Park, the Renaissance Center, Detroit Institute of Arts, Campus Martius Park.
