This month our community spotlight features Bridgman, Michigan. Named after Charlotte Lumber Company co-founder George Bridgman, the settlement was first founded in 1860 as Charlottesville. In the later part of the 19th century, Bridgman’s nursery business grew to become a multi-million-dollar industry for the town, shipping fruit plants all across the country.
Today, locals and visitors from all over flock to Weko Beach Park on the shores of Lake Michigan as they have since the 1920s for concerts, dancing, and dinner at the famous Weko pavilion and to walk the 3 miles of sandy shore through Warren Dunes State Park. The Lake Michigan shore of Bridgman plays host to many great annual events including the Makers Trail Festival, the Beach Brewers Festival, and the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Festival. Check out the Bridgman community page to discover all the great events the city has to offer!
