Bloomfield Township, MI
Bloomfield Township was the first established township in Oakland County, Michigan U.S. The township is officially known as the Charter Township of Bloomfield, but many residents refer to it as Bloomfield. Over 40,000 people call Bloomfield Township home and in 2014 the township ranked as the most expensive community to live in Michigan. In 1934, bones of a Mastodon were discovered in a pond. The skeletal remains became known as “Bloomfield Charlie”. Bloomfield Township is home to Oakland Hills Country Club which has hosted golf events, such as the U.S. Open and the Ryder Cup. Also in the township is the Detroit Skating Club where World and Olympic winning skaters have trained.
