Saturday, 02/29, 2-3pm, Auditorium: The Pontiac Public Library has partnered with the Oakland County Democratic Black Caucus and 4 Helping Other People Enhance for a black history essay contest. Submissions are now open! Submissions are due by Saturday, February 22st. Prizes and a ceremony will be given out on Saturday, February 29th at 2pm. Prizes will be given for two different age groups. Requirements: Submit a 400-500-word essay (ages 7-12) or an 800-1,000-word essay (ages 13-17) on an important historical African American figure, of your choice, explaining how their story is heroic.
