The LocalHop app will give you the option to skip the setup process of creating Hopspots, and selecting categories. If you choose to skip these steps you can still add them later once logged in. Creating an account is free and will allow you to save your Hopspots (communities of interest), follow organizations, and favorite events. Type in your first name, last name, email address, and create a password to get started.

Hopspot (definition) – A Hopspot is an area, community, or several communities of interest that you define for which you would like to see events.
You can begin adding your Hopspotsby going to the drop-down at the top of the page and selecting “Add New Hopspot.” (note: you can also access the “Nearby Me” function under this icon)
Begin by naming your Hopspot. If you want to see the events in the cities around where you live, you may consider naming your first Hopspot “Home” or “Close to Home.” Type in the city or the zip code of the first community you would like to add to your Hopspot and a dropdown list will appear of all the closest cities. Then add additional communities and cities that interest you. Selected communities will show up in blue text with a checkmark. Once you are finished, click on “Done” and “Save.”
Your Hopspots can be edited at any time. Create additional Hopspots and easily go between them with a quick swipe left or right on your phone.
The series of dots on the bottom of the screen indicate multiple organizations are being followed or there are multiple Hopspots (depending on the tab you are in).
Note: The Hopspot feature is only available in the LocalHop app. Search for events by community via the community pages on the LocalHop website.
View the organizations you are following and search for others.
Click on the “organizations” tab on the home screen to start searching for organizations to follow. Just like your Hopspots, you will then be able to swipe between screens to view your favorited organizations and their upcoming events.
As you discover new events you can keep track of them by doing one of the following in the event options tab:
The “Nearby Me” feature will show all of the events within 5 miles of your current location. You can find the “Nearby Me” function under the Hotspots tab.
You will know you are on the “Nearby Me” page when you see the green arrow lit up on the bottom of the phone.
Note: The “Nearby Me” function does not take into account your category filter settings, be sure to read the event descriptions to see event tags.
The event detail page provides an event description, categories, date, time, city, hosting organization, and the event venue. Other options on the page include:
Home – The home icon will bring you back to the “Nearby Me” default homepage
Categories – Select categories to filter out events that are not of interest
My Account – Change account name, email, or password. Change notification settings, report a problem and log out of the application. Edit categories, Hopspot, and organizations.
